My Second Update = ]
Hey Everyone!!
Alot has happened since my last update and i have been so busy with school, friends, rotary and spending time with the other excahnge students. Firstly I want to say sorry to everyone for not keeping in touch this first month because i have been so busy and its really hard to email so many people personal emails, but i will send all you guys these updates so you can see what im upto, also all my pictures from pretty much everything i have been doing are on facebook and also a few vidoes.
Since my first update alot has happened, School is still really good and i enjoying going, its weird to say but i actually look forward to going (except for getting up and going to school at 6.30am) which was really hard for me at first, but now i am used to it. I have 3 best friends school their names are Luiza, Wendy and Giovanni. Luiza is the only one that can speak english but I am learning portugese fast and we can all understand eachother and what we are trying to say. Wendy and I go to the mall together alot and sh also come to my house to come swimming in my pool sometimes. Giovanni is really funny and we always joke around, I was meant to go to his farm horse riding but i got busy and couldnt go, so in the next few weeks i am going the for a visit. I am very excited to ride a horse again and i miss my horse turbo even though i couldnt ride him much before i left. In Arabatuba (the city i am living in) we have 10 exchange students and at my school there are 7 of us including me and another Australian boy I flew over here with. All of the exchange students here and in the close cities are really nice and we all get on great. At school we dont all hang around together, some do but i like to spend time with the brazilian friends I have made and after school I go to the night clubs or out with the Exchange Students. I took some kangaroo badges to school and everybody went crazy. I think i took about 50 and they we gone on the first day.
I have been visiting alot of rotary clubs lately with my host family, so i can see all the different types of meetings, unfortunately my rotary club meeting is at 6am on thursday mornings, I guess i am not in luck with the mornings haha. I have been giving every club I go to a banner from the Batlow Rotary Club and i have also collected alot of banners. So far I have been to 8 differents rotary clubs in a few different cities, and have had to introduce myself, my host club and sponsor club. The hard part is that I introuduce myself in portuguese but i think i am getting better now.
My family has been taking me to see alot of things and i have also been to a few different churches, they are amazing and so much different to Australia, I guess most of them are like American Gospel churches if that is the name and everybody gets up and sings and dances with really kool hand actions. It is really fun even though i dont understand what they are singing or saying, I just join in with the actions.
CARNAVAL!!!Carnaval in Brazil was amazing, I stayed in Gulihermes city and with his family (The boy living with my family in australia now) Oh My Gosh..... words can not explain how good it was, I have alot of pictures but you really had to be there and be in the moment, I wish Australia had something like this and I want to come to carnaval ever year. Carnaval at the club started at 1am so before that i went to a block party called ''Aja Arcool na Caneca'' which means ''act with alcohol in the cup''. I went to this block party with alot of other exchange students and my friend Barbara who I met when she was on excahnge in Australia last year. After the block party we all would parade down the road to the club. Hundreds of people all dressed the same. Alot of people didnt actually walk they stood on the roof of cars, sat on the bonnet, stood in the boot or in the back of utes, I was one of these people in the back of a ute. I am going to say carnaval was pretty much the same everyday, i dont mean it was all the same every day because it wasnt i just mean that everyday was so amazing and so much fun. I also spent alot of time with Julia, Guilhermes cousin, she is really nice and I cant wait to back back to Peanpolis and visit her and everyone else again..
Carnaval went for 5 days straight, Starting at 8pm and every day I didnt get home until 6am. I took a few days of recovering and slept through alot of my classes at school. It has also been very hot here so when i sleep i need my airconditioner on as low as it gets. Yesterday it was in the mid 40's but i think i am getting used to it now, even though i go in my pool everychance i get. After Carnaval I got sick for a few days so i missed school and had more time to rest and relax.
On Wednesday my family had an amazing Churrasco for me (Brazilian Barbecue). Brazilian Barbecuse are amazing and it makes us aussies look so lazy just having a sausage in some bread. Brazilians think its funny we call it a BBQ when just have sausages and rissoles. The BBQ here is cooked in what looks like a giant open pizza oven and the meat they use is so nice. Every 10 minutes or so the take the meat out, throw salty water over it and put it back on the spit again, they also cut of the huge hump from the bulls and eat that, it so so nice but apparently very fattening. With This they have bread, Salad, Rice, Beans and alot of diffent types of meat. Anyway at the BBQ all the exchange students came and a few friends from school. There was about 15 of us at my house, First we all got in the pool and played a game of Biribol (Water Volleyball i guess you would call it). After about 2 hours playing we got out, had dinner, made some jokes and showed of the talents we bought over from our countries. I was very fun and nobody could stop laughing at everyones jokes and strange talents.
Recently i have been told about all the tours I can make and there are 4 you can do. Some people do 4 but i am hoping to do 3, not sure if i can yet but will see. The ones I am definately doing are the Amazon and Northeast of brazil, where i will visit all the famous white sand beaches, go to Rio and alot more. The third tour i want to do is Pantal/Bonito which is Horse riding, snorkelling, Bungee jumping, fishing fo piranas, Aligator hunting and alot more. So i am hoping i do this tour but if not i am happy with the other 2.
Ok tomorow I am going travelling with my family for a week and a half to another state called Rio Grande do Sul. It is 3 states away and will be a 20hr drive with my host mum, dad and brother. I am really excited and will take alot of pictures. I am going there to see my host dads family and go to a wedding there, I am also excited to see my first Brazilian beach, so that should be great. I will let you all know how it went in my next update : )
